Requirements

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
Experience working with geriatric populations, especially in psychiatric settings
Strong knowledge of mental health disorders common in elderly patients
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and observational skills
Ability to work effectively in a team and handle challenging situations with professionalism
Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care
Ability to adapt to a fast-paced healthcare environment

Nice To Haves

Certification in psychiatric or mental health nursing preferred

Responsibilities

Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for elderly patients with psychiatric conditions
Administer medications and monitor for side effects, ensuring safe and effective treatment
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans
Provide therapeutic communication and emotional support to patients and their families
Monitor patient progress and document clinical observations accurately
Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies
Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, safety standards, and confidentiality policies
Assist in crisis intervention and de-escalation as needed
