About The Position

The Bishop’s School is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable High School Girls’ Basketball Coach to lead and develop student-athletes in our girls’ basketball program. The coach will oversee all aspects of the program including practices, competitions, player development, and team culture. This position requires a commitment to fostering individual growth, teamwork, sportsmanship, and competitive excellence while upholding the School’s mission and core values in all interactions with students, families, and colleagues. The successful candidate will be a motivated, highly organized, and self-directed individual who can effectively multitask and handle a variety of matters independently in a professional, trustworthy and mature manner with tact, diplomacy, and appropriate judgment.

Requirements

  • Experience coaching basketball; working with students in grades 6–12 preferred
  • Ability to inspire and motivate student athletes
  • Knowledge of basketball rules, strategies, and competition standards
  • Demonstrated coaching and leadership skills in the sport of basketball
  • Ability to build positive relationships with student-athletes, families, and colleagues
  • Deep knowledge of and commitment to adhering to relevant regulations and standards
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong work ethic with a proactive, responsible, and reliable approach
  • Knowledge of strength and conditioning principles appropriate for student-athletes
  • Highly organized, self-directed, and able to manage multiple responsibilities effectively
  • Ability to collaborate with members of the athletics department and the broader school community
  • Intermediate proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office and willingness to learn new systems as needed
  • Flexibility to work within an academic calendar that may require evening, weekend, and seasonal commitments

  • Ability to anticipate and support the needs of student-athletes and the athletics department
  • Excellent organizational and problem solving ability
  • Valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with applicable team or individual rules
  • Organize and lead daily practices
  • Run home matches using the School’s scoring system
  • Transport students in a school vehicle if necessary
  • Communicate with student athletes to understand their goals and ambitions
  • Assess the strengths of individual athletes and teach them to use them effectively and improve their overall skills.
  • Monitor and evaluate progress of student athletes
  • Keep records and documentation of and prepare appropriate reports
  • Other duties as assigned
