GIS Developer I
About The Position

Otter Tail Power Company is seeking an enthusiastic GIS Developer I to join our innovative GIS Development team! In this role, you’ll help maintain and enhance our enterprise-level geospatial systems to support critical utility operations across our service area. As a GIS Developer I, you’ll work with cutting-edge ESRI technology, build analytics that guide business decisions, and partner with field and office teams to ensure accurate, high-quality geospatial data. Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in GIS preferred OR associate degree/certificate in GIS OR minimum of three years of GIS experience
- Experience with GIS database administration required
- Advanced knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS 10.5 or higher
- Experience with ESRI database and server administration
- Strong analytical thinking, collaborative mindset, and problem‑solving skills
Nice To Haves
- Programming experience preferred (Python, JavaScript, etc.)
- Experience with GIS APIs preferred
Responsibilities
- Maintain enterprise GIS datasets and ensure data accuracy and integrity
- Develop complex database queries, reports, and geospatial analytics to support organizational decision-making
- Administer and support GIS databases and servers
- Publish and maintain GIS web services
- Provide GIS support and troubleshooting for end users
- Train field employees on GPS equipment and data collection processes
- Collect and oversee geospatial data from field operations
- Assist with GIS mapping, drawings, and custom data products
- Perform internal control–related responsibilities as needed
- Take on other duties as assigned to support the department
