About The Position

Chromalloy is seeking a highly skilled Global CMM Programmer to join our Advanced Manufacturing organization. This role will serve as a company-wide expert in dimensional inspection, metrology strategy, and CMM programming. The Global CMM Programmer will support multiple production sites, optimizing inspection processes, driving standardization, and ensuring reliable, repeatable measurement outcomes across the enterprise. The role requires strong technical competence in GD&T, metrology software, programming languages, and turbine hardware inspection. The role may be located onsite at our Phoenix, AZ or San Antonio, TX plants with up to 50% travel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Metrology, or related technical field (or equivalent experience).
  • 8+ years of metrology or CMM programming experience within aerospace or precision manufacturing environments.
  • Proficient with Hexagon and Zeiss CMM hardware and methodologies.
  • Expert-level working knowledge of GD&T; ASME Y14.5 certification or GDTP strongly preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in PC-DMIS; additional metrology software experience a plus.
  • Programming experience in DMIS, Python, VBA, SQL, including development of macros and automation routines.
  • CAD experience with Siemens NX (preferred), PTC Creo, and/or SolidWorks.
  • Six Sigma familiarity (Green Belt or higher a plus).
  • Strong communication skills and ability to influence across global teams.
  • Analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving capability.
  • Ability to work independently while supporting multiple sites and shifting priorities.
  • Up to 50% travel

Responsibilities

  • Develop, optimize, and validate CMM inspection programs across global manufacturing sites.
  • Support metrology operations involving Hexagon and Zeiss CMM systems.
  • Drive best practices for GD&T interpretation, measurement planning, and tolerance analysis.
  • Create and maintain programs in PC-DMIS (primary) and Calypso.
  • Provide expertise or support in MODUS, Polyworks, and Verisurf as needed.
  • Develop automation, macros, and data workflows using DMIS, Python, VBA, and SQL.
  • Utilize CAD platforms (NX preferred; PTC Creo, SolidWorks) for model-based definition, program development, and measurement planning.
  • Collaborate with design engineering to resolve drawing interpretation or GD&T questions.
  • Partner with global quality teams on inspection strategy for NPI, repair development, and legacy product optimization.
  • Create standard templates, libraries, procedures, and global inspection guidelines.
  • Support Six Sigma practice and SPC data requirements when needed.
  • Provide hands-on support for complex measurement challenges and root cause investigations at multiple sites.
  • Train and mentor inspectors, CMM operators, and junior engineers on metrology fundamentals and advanced applications.
  • Assess and improve measurement system capability, repeatability, and reliability.
  • Apply strong background as an aerospace inspector with understanding of turbine hardware manufacturing methods, process tolerances, and inspection nuances.
