About The Position

The Global Commodity Manager is responsible for building a strong understanding of customer needs within Emerson’s business units, developing strategies for addressing those needs, and implementing plans to achieve those strategies for the Semiconductors commodity. This role coordinates deployment of actions in support of critical initiatives by working closely with business unit resources and suppliers. You will have full responsibility in the assigned commodities including supplier relationship management, supplier performance and escalation management, lead time monitoring, new product development involvement, supply chain resiliency enhancement, and lean supplier network design. In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be: Lead Emerson’s global Semiconductor spend and oversee full lifecycle commodity management. Build and strengthen collaborative supplier relationships by establishing improvement plans, integrating technology roadmaps, and aligning on manufacturing, inventory, and capacity needs. Develop and implement commodity strategies that support growth, enhance supply chain resiliency, and reduce risk across global operations. Communicate and align these strategies across business units to ensure visibility, consistency, and support worldwide. Stay current on the sourcing industry by engaging with Emerson business units, preferred suppliers, EMS providers, trade organizations, and market data. Negotiate sourcing and pricing strategies; lead contract negotiations and develop commercial agreements. Understand engineering, quality, marketing, procurement, and manufacturing requirements to ensure alignment with supplier capabilities. Evaluate and select suppliers to strengthen the Preferred Supplier Network and build productive executive‑level relationships where needed. Prepare and lead strategic and executive supplier business reviews. Ensure accuracy of commodity data incorporated into business unit inflation models. Lead and participate in supplier transitions, consolidation initiatives, and performance improvement projects. Improve supplier performance through lead‑time optimization, asset management strategies, and delivery performance improvements. Develop annual spend forecasts, conduct cost analysis, benchmark suppliers, and identify savings opportunities. Support business units with high-priority escalations and issues involving preferred suppliers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Business, Supply Chain, or Engineering (Electrical preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years of proven experience in Commodity Sourcing or related functions in manufacturing or related industry
  • Strong understanding of the semiconductor or broader commodity market.
  • Demonstrated analytical, communication, presentation, and leadership capabilities.
  • Ability to work effectively across multiple levels of the organization and within diverse teams.
  • Ability to travel regionally and internationally (up to 25%) across the US, Asia, and Europe.
  • Flexibility to collaborate across global time zones.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other standard business tools.
