About The Position

The GES Experienced Associate is responsible for the preparation of inbound and outbound international assignee US individual income tax returns, tax equalizations, completing assignment cost projections and compensation gathering, along with basic tax related research where necessary. In this role, the GES Experienced Associate will have the opportunity to utilize his/her educational background to service practice clients while under the direction of experienced Expatriate Services professionals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; focus in Accounting, Business Administration, International Business, Human Resource Management, International Human Resource Manager, preferred
  • Two (2) years of experience in individual income tax return preparation, expatriate tax experience, preferred
  • Prior experience in a customer / client service environment, preferred
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and Word
  • Proficient with Adobe Reader and Writer
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Possesses superior customer service skills
  • Ability to maintain the highly confidential nature of information
  • Capable of working and communicating effectively with professionals at all levels
  • Able to work in a deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects / tasks with an attention to detail
  • Ability to successfully multi-task while working independently or within a group environment
  • Superior analytical and diagnostic skills and the ability to apply analysis in determining appropriate next steps
  • Excellent computer skills and the aptitude to learn new software applications
  • Knowledge regarding appropriate information required in the tax return filing process
  • Knowledge and familiarity with commonly utilized individual income tax forms

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree in Accounting or Tax, preferred
  • Enrolled Agent or CPA, preferred
  • Experience working with Go Systems, preferred
  • Fluency in foreign languages, highly desired
  • Prior study abroad or international work experience, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepares US individual income tax returns for inbound and outbound international assignees
  • Prepares international assignment cost projection, hypothetical tax and tax equalization calculations, as required
  • Participates in arrival and departure tax meetings for expatriates and inpatriates, as required
  • Versed in transfer year residency issues and elections, including foreign earned income exclusion qualification and treaty positions
  • Researches various global tax and human resource management matters, as appropriate
  • Communicates with clients via phone and in writing to gather personal information to assist in the processing of individual assignees’ returns
  • Prepares correspondence on various global human resource management and individual tax issues
  • Partners with Expatriate professionals in the completion of assigned projects, business development proposals, practice development challenges and client service matters, as required
  • Attends professional development and training sessions on a regular basis
  • Supports the Expatriate practice in development and retention of long-term client relationships
  • Other duties as, required
