Job Description
Vertex Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is looking for an Associate Director or Director to join the Global Marketing team to support VX-210, a Rho inhibitor in development for Acute Spinal Cord Injury. Reporting directly to the Vice President, Global Marketing, the Associate Director/Director will be responsible for working across the organization to guide the eventual commercialization of VX-210. This will include gathering global market insights across physicians, patients and payers, and applying these to shape the profile for VX-210. The individual will have the proven ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams including research, development, regulatory, commercial, health outcomes and value, medical affairs, business development and legal, be innovative and have a commitment to bring therapies forward that can dramatically improve patients? lives.
Key responsibilities:
* Develop and sustain a high degree of therapeutic knowledge about Acute Spinal Cord Injury
* Monitor clinical and marketplace developments and assess impact on Vertex?s competitive position
* Co-leadership of the VX-210 development team and leadership of the commercial sub-team
* Collaboration cross-functionally to develop compelling clinical, patient and value propositions for VX-210
* Determine the commercial structure and create key global initiatives to support the eventual launch of VX-210
* Build and manage strong relationships with thought leaders, professional societies and patient advocacy groups
Minimum Qualifications
* A Bachelor?s degree in marketing, business or a science discipline.
* 5+ years of experience in specialty pharmaceutical and/or biotech industries, including some combination
of marketing, sales and new product planning.
Preferred Qualifications
* An MBA and/or advanced science/medical degree
* In country or regional marketing, as well as global marketing experience
* Experience with medical device or hospital products
* 2+ years of leadership experience on biopharmaceutical projects, teams or a functional area.
* Experience in building a therapeutic area
* Demonstrated ability to gather input from multiple functions and generate strategic options and scenarios
* Demonstrated record of results and strong analytical, strategic, and business planning.
* A solid business acumen with the ability to look beyond the current landscape and propose alternative strategies
* A solid compliance mindset and demonstrated integrity on the job
* Self-motivated and prioritizes
* Excellent people and communication skills
* The ability to operate in a complex matrix environment to build a consensus across functions
