General Purpose: Globe Interns will develop a strong appreciation of the historic Globe Collection through hands on experiencing in the areas of design, print production, community outreach, archiving, and research. Duties and Responsibilities: Interns will work alongside experienced printers on letterpress and screen printed projects. Interns will improve their skills in these crafts by working on a variety of projects for internal and external clients. Interns will learn about the evolution of the iconic Globe style by working with the archive and staff. They will apply this knowledge by contributing to the design of new work. Interns will engage with the collection by proofing cuts and type to help with archiving of those items. Interns will help develop community outreach projects such as collaborative posters, workshops, and educational opportunities. Globe interns will assist with the execution of these events when possible. Interns help to keep the letterpress studio and Globe Archive room in the 15/15 Printmaking building organized and clean, ready for printing and other projects. Perform other related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong oral and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to balance multiple deadlines and perform many tasks simultaneously. Ability to collaborate with students, staff, faculty, and community members. Ability to work independently and take initiative in projects. Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Drive platforms Knowledgeable in Adobe suite programs Minimum Qualifications: Understanding of design, typography, letterpress and screen-printing practices Enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree at MICA Physical demands and work environment: The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Required training: Handbook orientation, Anti-Harassment, Hazard Communication, Emergency Plans & Fire Prevention, Personal Protection Equipment.
