We are seeking a skilled Groundman / Machine Control Specialist to support GOMACO slipform paving operations on FAA airfield and heavy civil concrete projects. This role is critical in ensuring precise grade, alignment, and elevation control using Trimble machine control systems and traditional survey methods. A typical day looks like: Set, check, and maintain grade and alignment for slipform paving operations Operate and manage Trimble 3D machine control systems for paving equipment Verify elevations, offsets, and tolerances in accordance with project plans and FAA specifications Perform grade checks using survey equipment (Total Stations) Communicate grade adjustments and corrections to the Foreman and paving operator Ensure the setup of 3D control systems is correct Monitor paving progress to ensure compliance with smoothness and tolerance requirements Troubleshoot machine control issues and assist with calibration and setup Support general ground crew duties as needed during paving operations Maintain a safe work environment and follow all FAA, DOT, and company safety standards Do you have what it takes? 2+ years of experience in concrete paving, grading, or machine control Experience with Trimble GPS / 3D machine control systems (required) Familiarity with FAA airfield paving (P-501) or DOT concrete specifications preferred Ability to read and interpret construction plans, grades, and staking information Experience with survey equipment (GPS rover & total station) Strong math and measurement skills Valid driver’s license Skills & Competencies High level of accuracy and attention to detail Strong understanding of grade control and paving tolerances Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills Ability to work closely with operators and supervisors Reliable and safety-focused Work Environment Outdoor construction sites, including active airport / airfield projects Frequent travel throughout the Southeastern United States Night shifts and overtime common Exposure to noise, dust, heavy equipment, and varying weather conditions Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, and work on uneven terrain for extended periods Ability to lift up to 50 lbs Frequent bending, kneeling, and climbing Preferred Qualifications OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification Experience with slipform paving operations (GOMACO preferred) Basic understanding of equipment calibration and diagnostics Why IX? Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in concrete paving, grading, or machine control
  • Experience with Trimble GPS / 3D machine control systems (required)
