About The Position

At EPCOR, government affairs and public policy play a critical role in supporting safe, reliable, and affordable utility services for our communities. As a Government Affairs Intern, you’ll gain hands‑on experience supporting policy research, legislative monitoring, and cross‑functional collaboration in the water utility industry. This full‑time, paid summer internship provides exposure to local, state, and federal water policy, regulatory processes, and stakeholder engagement. Working alongside experienced Government Affairs professionals, you’ll help support research, communications, and reporting that inform EPCOR’s policy and advocacy efforts. Internship Dates: June 1, 2026 – August 7, 2026

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a related program at an accredited university
  • Interest in government affairs, public policy, utilities, water policy, or regulatory environments
  • Strong research, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to clearly communicate information in writing and verbally in a professional setting
  • Attention to detail and ability to synthesize complex information
  • Professionalism, reliability, and a collaborative, learning‑focused mindset

Responsibilities

  • Support research on local, state, and federal water policies, regulations, and legislative proposals
  • Assist with reviewing proposed legislation and regulations and help summarize potential impacts to utility operations
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments related to water resources, environmental protection, and utility regulation
  • Prepare summaries, briefs, and reports to support internal awareness and decision‑making
  • Participate in meetings, briefings, or public hearings alongside team members and assist with preparing meeting summaries
  • Assist with drafting internal and external communication materials related to policy initiatives and government affairs activities
  • Support grant‑related research and documentation efforts related to funding opportunities that help reduce costs for customers
  • Work collaboratively with internal partners including legal, rates, public affairs, operations, engineering, and other departments
  • Support data tracking, documentation, and reporting related to government affairs activities
  • Follow professional and ethical standards when working with sensitive or policy‑related information
  • Support other projects and responsibilities as requested
