About The Position

System Integration and Test (I&T) Engineer 2 supports testing of the Global Positioning System (GPS) at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station (CCSFS). The GPS testing and analysis program is utilized for the development and validation of present and future GPS Satellites and Ground systems. The GPS Test Site Operator will be responsible for operating and maintaining a US Space Force owned modernized test receiver and supporting associated contractual requirements at Draper’s Site 29 on CCSFS.

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Applied Physics, or related field.
  • Requires 3-5 years in Systems Engineering or relevant role.
  • The ability to be COMSEC and Crypto briefed, and conduct operations according to associated policies, procedures, and guidance.
  • Capable of working day, evening, night and weekend shifts as scheduled by the site manager. Off hour and weekend test support is infrequent.
  • Infrequent travel may be required to the following locations: Cambridge, MA, Colorado Springs, CO, Los Angeles, CA, and Menlo Park, CA.
  • Ability to lift and install/remove electronic hardware and computer systems.
  • The ability to understand GPS test specifications and apply the specifications to testing activities.
  • Applicants selected for this position will be required to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
  • Current Secret Clearance Required

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of GPS with previous test experience
  • Familiarity with Spectrum Analyzer, Network Analyzers (VNA), signal generators, voltmeters and oscilloscopes is preferred
  • Basic knowledge of antennas, electronic equipment and GPS RF signals is favorable
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Linux and Windows Computers, Cyber Security, COMSEC, MATLAB and Python are favorable
  • Familiarity with GPS, GPS antenna types, GPS satellites, Electronics, Radio Frequency transmission and attenuation

Responsibilities

  • Help define an I&T approach for a particular component / subsystem / system and independently execute plan.
  • Contribute high quality content for technical reports and presentations with minimal guidance.
  • Adapt appropriately to changes in program requirements.
  • Proactively identify needs and concerns associated with plan execution and communicate them to project leadership.
  • Receive training to become proficient in operating and maintaining the modernized receivers; ability to perform any essential test scenarios vital to validate test requirements.
  • Ensure the modernized receiver systems are ready for all required test events.
  • Perform system configuration management to include software, hardware and firmware.
  • Support for testing that utilizes operational GPS Satellites and GPS Simulators.
  • Ability to collaborate with other Draper sites (primarily Cambridge, MA), Draper subcontractors, Government and Government contractor organizations on the planning, execution, and reporting of GPS requirement validation test activities.
  • Perform post processing and analysis of collected test event data.
  • Generate deliverable documents and presentation of analyzed data for test events to Government, Government contractors, and Draper Engineers.
  • Responsible for System Administration of both Linux and Windows computers systems in support of MRTA, to include handling computer system licenses and maintenance agreements.
  • Coordinate with Security Office(s) to handle visit authorizations and security for visitors
  • Act as a point of contact for site computer systems, internet services, and telecommunications.
  • Adhere to established policies and procedures for security material, to include utilization and transfers (incoming and outgoing).
  • Collaborate with management and support teams to ensure continuous site operations.
  • Support customer program reviews as needed by providing slide material, occasional meeting participation, and presentation of site operations, maintenance, and status.
  • Prepare the site to ensure the protection of associated assets in the event of adverse weather events such as hurricanes in accordance with CCSFS directed preparation and evacuation notices and procedures.
  • Conduct and maintain equipment inventory records
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
