Grad Intern - Operations – Environment, Health and Safety (EH&S) - San Francisco, CA (Summer 2026) What You Will Do Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. Amgen’s Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) department in South San Francisco, CA is looking for a graduate student interested in a 13-week summer internship, with the possibility of extending into the fall. The position will be responsible for the following: Generate and apply advanced AI tools to aggregate and analyze safety data, identify trends, and generate actionable insights through data-driven presentations Demonstrate how AI-driven processes and collaborative teamwork can enhance both safety and operational efficiency Develop the ASF EH&S Management System to ensure alignment with Amgen’s Global Management Systems. Support the ongoing enhancement of EH&S compliance programs, including Biosafety and Industrial Safety initiatives such as Hot Work, R&D Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) updates, PPE assessments, and training material revisions. Contribute to the evaluation of physical and chemical hazards and the implementation of effective control strategies. Perform additional duties as assigned. Candidates should demonstrate the following qualifications:

Requirements

  • 18 years or older
  • Graduated with a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Currently enrolled in an MBA program for an MBA internship OR a Master’s program for a Master’s internship OR a PharmD program for a PharmD internship OR Ph.D. for a PhD internship from an accredited college or university and completion of the first year of MBA OR Master’s OR Pharm D OR Ph.D. program before the internship starts
  • Enrolled in an accredited college or university following the potential internship or co-op assignment
  • Must not be employed at the time the internship starts
  • Student must be located in the United States for the duration of the internship

Nice To Haves

  • Degree concentrations in Environmental and Occupational Health, Public Health, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Industrial Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Chemical Engineering, or Project Management
  • Applied knowledge of Cal/OSHA, OSHA and EPA regulations
  • Strong written, verbal and organizational skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to prioritize effectively in a rapidly evolving environment
  • Computer literate including MS Office Suite and Smartsheet

Responsibilities
