About The Position

The Graduate Assistant will assist with the undergraduate professionalism and career development courses in the College of Engineering. Engage students in the courses to improve retention, completion, and attendance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field.
  • Must be a graduate student in the College of Engineering or College of Business.
  • Presently enrolled at Prairie View A&M University for at least nine (9) graduate semester credit hours during the term in which the work is to be done.
  • Must be in good academic standing (SAP) as demonstrated through your college; minimum 2.0 GPA
  • For work eligibility during a summer term, a student must be enrolled for at least six (6) graduate or undergraduate semester credit hours during the term in which the work is to be done or preregistered at least six (6) undergraduate semester hours or nine (9) graduate semester hours for the upcoming fall term.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize monitoring of weekly attendance and Canvas assignments to identify high risk students and suggest or implement interventions (with approval of instructor.
  • Communicate with and contact students to help troubleshoot concerns/issues in order to prevent early student problems from escalating to poor course performance overall.
  • Grading of professionalism assignments.
  • Attend professionalism courses to assist with class events and activities- some hours attended may be evening hours from 5pm-6:30pm CST Monday through Thursday.
  • Other duties as assigned.
