About The Position

The Grant Budget Analyst is responsible for budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis of all assigned federal, state, county, city, and foundation awards, as well as fee for service programs, and related administrative departments within the Community Support Services (CSS) region. This position will meet with program leadership on a monthly basis to review budget/forecast trends versus actual, investigate variances, recommend correcting Journal Entries, and update the forecast with budget software, Adaptive Insights. If spending is forecasted to diverge meaningful from the approved budget, the CSS Grant Budget Analyst will work with that contract’s program director to create and submit an Administrative Adjustment Request (AAR) or Budget Modification. Finally, the CSS Grant Budget Analyst will annual build and submit budgets for existing contracts and will support the Grant Accounting Director in the submission of new budgets for Requests for Proposals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business or related field or equivalent work experience required, MBA/MPA/CPA a plus
  • Minimum two years accounting, finance, economics, business or related field work experience required
  • Minimum three years grants/contract budgeting and analysis experience preferred
  • Accounting/GAAP knowledge, with Non-Profit experience a plus
  • Knowledge of 2 CFR 200-Uniform Administrative Requirements and Cost Principles a plus
  • Experience with cost allocation principles related to direct/shared costs a plus
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (emphasis on Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
  • Working knowledge of NetSuite and Adaptive is strongly preferred
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, both internally with staff, peers and management, as well as externally with clients, regulators, and community partners
  • Detail-driven and excellent organizational skills
  • Must have strong analytical skills, specifically in organizational processes, to assess efficiencies and compliance with policies and procedures and be able to recommend and implement changes when necessary

Responsibilities

  • Develop the annual budgets and update forecasts on a monthly basis for each grant/contract/department assigned
  • Provide meaningful analysis of revenue and expenses including comparisons to prior year, budget and forecast on routine and ad-hoc basis
  • Conduct Ad-hoc analysis and reports to assist all program departments
  • Create, maintain, and improve upon Adaptive and NetSuite financial reports and tracking sheets
  • Disseminate standard Adaptive and NetSuite financial reports to branch leadership
  • Lead quarterly budget meetings with program and branch leadership team
  • Produce and submit monthly contract billing
  • Produce and submit budget modifications to funders when necessary
  • Gather important organization data from multiple sources and compile it into meaningful reports or dashboard for various stakeholders
  • Conduct trainings for program stakeholders to clearly identify; the allocations assumed for staff within the program, the budgeted amounts for each expense category (and what category consists of) and which costs are unallowable
  • Apply compliance standards unique to various Federal, State, and local contracts using OMB Uniform guidance 2 CFR Part 200
  • Work with Area Director of Finance to estimate accruals for monthly close
  • Perform other administrative tasks as assigned and assist with maintaining proper document storage and auditing
  • Participate in and attend all required staff meetings, trainings, YMCA staff development events and appropriate agency-wide committees
