About The Position

Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington D.C. is hiring a Graphic Production Artist in Richmond, Virginia. The Graphic Production Artist is responsible for producing high-impact visual assets across a digital-first marketing ecosystem. The individual in this role helps translate strategy into design, bringing ideas to life through smart, scalable, and visually compelling creative that performs in today’s digital-first marketing world.

Requirements

  • Strong production mindset. Must be able to balance speed, accuracy, and creativity in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign; After Effects and Premiere Pro preferred).
  • Experience designing for digital channels including social media, paid ads, email, websites, and responsive formats.
  • Strong understanding of typography, layout, color theory, and visual hierarchy.
  • Must have ability to interpret creative briefs and translate strategy into production-ready design assets.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and multitasking skills. Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced marketing environment.
  • Must be flexible to adjust priorities based on business needs and campaign timelines.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • High attention to detail and quality control in production deliverables.
  • Comfortable adapting to evolving technology, tools, and workflows (including AI-assisted design tools).

  • Minimum five years of professional graphic design or production design experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or related field preferred (or equivalent professional experience).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in B2B, industrial, manufacturing, or technical industries is a plus, but not required.
  • Experience with motion graphics, basic video editing, or animation for digital platforms, a plus.
  • Familiarity with marketing automation platforms and digital asset management systems, desirable.
  • Experience working within a brand governance framework and large corporate brand guidelines, desirable.
  • Portfolio demonstrating digital-first design, campaign execution, and production versatility, a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Creative Production and Execution Design and produce digital-first creative assets across web, social, email, paid media, landing pages, internal platforms, and emerging digital channels.
  • Adapt creative concepts into multiple formats and specifications (static, animated, responsive, interactive) while maintaining brand integrity and visual consistency.
  • Execute rapid-turn, high-volume production while maintaining a high standard of design quality and attention to detail.
  • Develop creative that is performance-driven, not just visually appealing—designed to support engagement, conversion, and brand growth
  • Brand Evolution and Visual Storytelling Translate Carter Machinery’s established brand into fresh, compelling visual executions that resonate with modern audiences while honoring brand heritage.
  • Support brand evolution by introducing contemporary design approaches, digital trends, and innovative visual storytelling techniques.
  • Ensure all creative adheres to Cat and Carter brand standards, trademarks, and visual identity guidelines.
  • Collaboration and Workflow Integration Partner closely with Project Managers, Content Strategists, and Digital Teams to deliver creative assets aligned with campaign strategy and business goals.
  • Understand how creative functions within funnels, campaigns, and customer journeys.
  • Work within established creative workflows and project management systems to meet deadlines and manage multiple concurrent projects.
  • Provide design support across business units including machine sales, parts, service, rental, and corporate initiatives.
  • Production and Asset Management Prepare files for digital deployment and print production, ensuring accuracy in sizing, resolution, file formats, and specifications.
  • Maintain organized file structures, version control, and creative documentation.
  • Track production time and workload to support continuous improvement and resource planning.
  • Continuous Improvement and Innovation Stay current on digital design trends, tools, AI-assisted creative workflows, and emerging formats (e.g. motion graphics, short-form video, interactive content).
  • Proactively suggest new creative approaches, templates, and efficiencies to scale design output without sacrificing quality.
  • Work in coordination with team to achieve Continuous Improvement goals and objectives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
