About The Position

Mother’s Market & Kitchen is seeking a strategic and results-driven Grocery Category Manager to lead our Dry Grocery category across the enterprise. In this role, you will own category strategy, assortment planning, pricing, promotions, and vendor partnerships, ensuring both financial performance and a customer-focused, high-quality product assortment. You’ll combine analytical rigor with creativity and operational awareness to drive sales, margin growth, inventory efficiency, and customer satisfaction, while upholding our natural, organic, and sustainable brand standards. Pay Range: $80,000 ‒ $90,000 Annually Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, life insurance, & in-store discounts

Requirements

  • 2+ years of category management, merchandising, or buying experience (grocery or CPG preferred).
  • Proven ability to manage category-level P&L and deliver financial results.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable strategies.
  • Flexible availability across various shifts and locations including weekends and evenings

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in natural and organic grocery retail.
  • Proficiency with retail analytics, POS data, and category management systems.
  • Experience managing categories in a multi-store or enterprise retail environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Category Strategy & Financial Performance
  • Develop and execute a strategic roadmap for the Dry Grocery category aligned with corporate sales and profitability goals.
  • Own category-level P&L, including pricing strategy, cost management, and promotional investment.
  • Analyze sales trends, market data, and customer insights to identify opportunities and drive actionable strategies.
  • Establish and track KPIs such as sales growth, margin, inventory turns, and in-stock levels.
  • Curate & Manage Assortment
  • Lead assortment planning, product introductions, and SKU rationalization to optimize space and productivity.
  • Evaluate new products and suppliers for alignment with company standards and category strategy.
  • Manage the product lifecycle from onboarding through discontinuation.
  • Ensure the assortment meets customer needs while supporting profitability and operational efficiency.
  • Build Strong Vendor Partnerships
  • Develop and maintain supplier relationships, leading commercial negotiations for cost, terms, and promotional support.
  • Execute vendor agreements in line with corporate policies and compliance requirements.
  • Partner with vendors to drive innovation, promotions, and supply continuity.
  • Monitor supplier performance and resolve quality, service, or cost issues.
  • Execute Pricing, Promotion & Merchandising
  • Establish pricing architecture that balances competitiveness with margin objectives.
  • Plan and execute promotional strategies, including seasonal and feature programs.
  • Collaborate with marketing, operations, and store teams to ensure flawless execution.
  • Maintain planogram compliance and merchandising standards across all stores.
  • Collaborate Across Functions
  • Partner with Supply Chain, Replenishment, Finance, Marketing, E-commerce, and Store Operations teams.
  • Support inventory planning, forecasting, and enterprise-wide merchandising initiatives.
  • Contribute to continuous process improvement and category management best practices.
