About The Position

Ground Support Engineering Manager Company: The Boeing Company Boeing SI&W, Integrated Design Engineering, Space Mission Systems, is seeking a Ground Support Engineering Manager (Level L) to join the Space Vehicle Design Integration Organization in El Segundo, CA. The Design Integration team focuses on satellite programs that enables communications across the world. This role allows the opportunity to manage the tool engineering design and fabrication team. This candidate will be offered a unique opportunity to oversee the execution of the tooling design and fabrication efforts for all programs. The Ground Support Operations & Tooling Manager will support a range of in-space vehicle products and lead mechanical and structural engineering activities for non-flight ground support, tooling, and test equipment, including supplier oversight. This role is responsible for developing and executing project and process plans, implementing policies and procedures, and setting operational goals. The manager will supervise engineering staff, coordinate with suppliers, drive mechanical engineering activities, and contribute to business planning, capital planning, and technical strategy for the Space Vehicle Design Integration department. This position is expected to be 100% onsite.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering
  • 10 years of technical engineering experience
  • 3 years of technical managerial leadership experience
  • Experience working with ground support equipment, and/or tooling engineering
  • This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).

Responsibilities

  • Manage engineering and technical staff performing mechanical and structural tool engineering across programs
  • Plan, acquire, and manage resources for projects and processes; provide technical direction
  • Lead process improvements and corrective actions, including RCCA (Root Cause Corrective Action) activities
  • Develop and maintain relationships with customers, stakeholders, peers, and partners
  • Provide oversight and approval of technical approaches, deliverables, and processes
  • Conduct performance reviews, manage compensation recommendations, and mentor and coach employees
  • Recruit, develop, and motivate staff to grow the organization’s technical depth and breadth to support sustained LRBP
