About The Position

The Grounds Maintenance Specialist performs general maintenance functions for the Hospital grounds, grounds equipment, mechanical and electrical rooms and snow removal. The individual will runs errands as necessary to pick up supplies for various departments. The position must independently adjust their work hours/shifts as needed during the winter season to provide snow removal services.

Requirements

High school diploma/GED, or higher education
Valid State of Michigan drivers license

Responsibilities

Maintains hospital grounds in all seasons and operates equipment necessary for exterior grounds operation.
Assesses all parking lots, lights and exterior hospital property and maintains lots and property in excellent condition.
Independently adjusts work schedule as needed during the winter season and completes and advises 3rd shift on snow removal and other duties as assigned.
Performs routine maintenance on outdoor systems as needed.
Is on-call as needed on weekends and other shifts for snow removal and other duties as assigned.
Maintains all exterior hospital property as well as rental and off-site property in all weather conditions to ensure safe conditions in parking lots, sidewalks and surrounding exterior property. This includes but is not limited to snow removal, salting of parking lots and pedestrian walkways, tree and grass maintenance.
Performs seasonal exterior duties included but not limited to: snow removal, lawn maintenance, sprinkling systems and exterior building envelope maintenance.
Cooperates with Security service to ensure safety of building and grounds.
Independently prioritizes department request for warehouse items and all off-site assistance.
Assists maintenance personnel with miscellaneous duties and responds to emergency calls such as fire alarms, fire drills, and weather warnings.
Performs general maintenance of hospital vehicles as well as outdoor equipment.
Troubleshoots maintenance equipment, determines necessary repairs, and communicates to Grounds Lead and/or Manager Building Engineering.
When necessary has the ability and knowledge to independently clean mechanical and electrical rooms and accepts other work as assigned.
