We are seeking a highly qualified Grounds Maintenance Supervisor to join our team DESCRIPTION: Supervise, schedule, and coordinate daily, weekly, and long-term grounds maintenance operations in accordance with contract requirements. Lead and manage grounds maintenance personnel, providing field leadership and setting daily work priorities. Conduct daily safety briefings and ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. Develop, implement, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all grounds care activities. Inspect landscaped areas to identify deficiencies and ensure work quality meets contract standards. Maintain, inspect, and manage grounds irrigation systems, ensuring full operability; perform system start up and winterization; diagnose system deficiencies, and coordinate or execute repairs as needed. Manage procurement, tracking, and inventory control of grounds maintenance supplies and materials. Serve as liaison with Government Contracting Officer’s Representatives (CORs) and other stakeholders. Provide technical expertise and hands-on leadership during advanced landscaping tasks as required.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Horticulture Technology, Landscape Architecture, Floriculture, or Arboriculture.
  • At least five (5) years of recent (within the past 10 years) responsible experience in field management of commercial or industrial grounds maintenance operations of comparable size and complexity to FLETC Charleston.
  • Demonstrated experience scheduling, supervising, and leading a grounds maintenance workforce.
  • Experience in long-term landscape and plant health planning to prevent turf, soil, vegetation, and tree health issues.
  • Professional skill in planning and establishing the organizational structure required to maintain contract-compliant grounds operations.
  • Professional knowledge of turf maintenance, plant health treatment, bedding, soil management, tree maintenance and pruning, vegetation removal, fertilizer application, weed control, and irrigation systems.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Possession of a Real ID–compliant driver’s license and ability to operate motor vehicles and light equipment.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds unassisted.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays as required.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background investigation and physical examination.
