About The Position

GROUNDS/LAND MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN SUMMARY: The Grounds Maintenance Technician will perform general grounds and landscape maintenance duties, as well as residential renovation/maintenance work, in support of the Land Management Team. This includes driving to multiple properties using a company vehicle. This position will help ensure properties remain secure and well-maintained, clean and presentable, aligned with Tarragon's high standards and image. SCHEDULE: Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Overtime may be required throughout the year at the Manager's discretion based on business needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand basic safety signage, labels, and equipment manuals.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain an insurable driving record.
  • Experience operating agricultural, landscaping, or grounds maintenance equipment preferred.
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting and engage in physical labor, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and lifting for extended periods.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Ability to work outdoors in both urban and rural environments.
  • Ability to work in inclement weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and wind.
  • Basic understanding of workplace safety practices and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to interact professionally and respectfully with supervisors, coworkers, and members of the public.
  • Ability to understand that some assigned tasks may be less desirable or more physically demanding, and to perform all duties with a consistent, positive attitude.
  • Willingness to learn new skills, accept direction, and adapt to changing work conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience in carpentry, painting, minor plumbing, and electrical.

Responsibilities

  • Experience with safely operating handheld power equipment such as line trimmers, backpack blowers, chainsaws, mowers, and hedge trimmers.
  • Experience with safely operating mid-size heavy equipment, including skid steers, tractors, excavators, and riding mowers, etc.
  • Experience with safely operating all forms of carpentry tools, saws, drills, etc.
  • Ability to safely load and unload materials on-site and into different vehicles.
  • Ability to safely perform debris removal and property cleanup.
  • Adhere to all company rules, regulations, and safety protocols.
  • Maintain a tidy and safe workspace, whether it be the jobsite, company vehicle, or maintenance shop.
  • Safely and properly perform fueling, lubrication, and minor maintenance on equipment as required.
  • Clearly and respectfully communicate with supervisors, coworkers, and the public.
  • Follow instructions as provided by both the Land Manager and Land Foreman.
  • Assist with site security measures and property inspections as needed.
  • Perform safety-related pre-task planning prior to the start of the workday.
  • Other duties as assigned.
