About The Position

The position involves flower gardening and general grounds maintenance work, requiring a combination of experience, education, and skills in horticulture and landscape management. The role includes responsibilities such as the installation, maintenance, and repair of irrigation systems, as well as plant selection and care specific to the local environment. The incumbent will work both independently and as part of a crew, utilizing various landscape implements and equipment.

Requirements

• One year experience in flower gardening and general grounds maintenance work, or completion of a formal vocational training program in the field, or completion of a two-year curriculum in ornamental horticulture or landscape work.
• Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in irrigation systems.
• Ability to recognize and solve irrigation problems.
• Ability to read and write English at a level required for successful job performance.
• Must possess and maintain a valid California State Drivers' license in satisfactory standing.

Nice To Haves

• Two years experience in a landscape-related field.
• QAC (Qualified Applicator Card) Pesticide License.

Responsibilities

• Perform flower gardening and general grounds maintenance work.
• Install, maintain, and repair irrigation systems.
• Select and care for plants specific to the local environment.
• Diagnose and make minor repairs to landscape equipment.
• Recognize and treat plant diseases and insect pests common to California.
• Read and interpret plans, drawings, and specifications.
