About The Position

Maintain the grounds and buildings for Atlantic Casualty Insurance Company, which involves daily, weekly and seasonal tasks, as well as identifying and coordinating grounds repairs, exterior grounds renovation projects, and facility improvements. The Facilities Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the company’s buildings and grounds to ensure a safe, clean, and well-kept environment. This role includes performing daily, weekly, and seasonal maintenance tasks; identifying and coordinating repairs; supporting exterior renovation projects; and assisting with facility improvements.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate and minimum of three years related experience and/or training is required.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • Oral and written communication skills for contact with fellow employees, other team members, and upper management.
  • Ability to operate and maintain lawn care and facility maintenance equipment.
  • Working knowledge of pesticides, herbicides, groundskeeping, purchasing, supplies, and equipment repair.
  • Ability to identify facility-related equipment issues and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret written instructions and diagrams.
  • Strong reasoning skills; to address routine issues involving limited variables.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands/fingers to operate equipment controls and talk or hear.
  • The employee is required to sit or stand and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand and walk.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • The employee will be asked to climb ladders on a regular basis.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in various weather conditions.
  • Regularly exposure to moving mechanical parts and in varying weather conditions including heat, humidity, and inclement weather.

Nice To Haves

  • An associate’s degree from an accredited institution and one year of experience in landscape and/or turf management is preferred.
  • A current North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (NCDA&CS) Ground Applicator License is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain company-owned grounds, including lawns, walkways, and parking areas.
  • Conduct routine daily, weekly, and seasonal inspections of buildings and grounds to identify maintenance needs and necessary repairs.
  • Mow, trim, edge, and maintain lawns and landscaped areas as required.
  • Prune and trim trees, bushes, and shrubs as needed.
  • Perform landscaping duties, including planting flowers, grass, trees, shrubs, and bushes.
  • Apply mulch, rock, and other landscaping materials to designated areas.
  • Safely apply pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers in accordance with manufacturer instructions, OSHA guidelines, and company safety policies.
  • Perform minor repairs and preventive maintenance on groundskeeping equipment (e.g., leaf blowers, trimmers, edgers, lawn tractors/mowers).
  • Remove snow and apply appropriate ice-melting products to walkways and entrances.
  • Operate, maintain, and repair the property irrigation system.
  • Install and remove seasonal lawn furniture and decorative items.
  • Inspect, perform minor maintenance on, and document upkeep of company vehicles.
  • Monitor work performed by contracted landscaping vendors to ensure compliance with contract terms, report discrepancies to the facilities management.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
