About The Position

If so, the Insights, Data, Employee Experience, Agents, and Science (IDEAS) organization’s Product Fabric team may be a great fit for you. We are looking for a Group Engineering Manager to lead a portfolio of core data and analytics services that drive positive customer experiences and product growth across Microsoft 365. In this role, you will own Experimentation, Attribution Service, and our Growth Analytics programs, defining their long-term strategy and leading the systems that power customer experience measurement and data-driven growth across Microsoft. This role combines platform ownership with insight generation, ensuring product teams and leaders have trusted data and metrics to make informed decisions that improve customer outcomes and drive business impact. This is a highly visible, partner-facing role that requires technical proficiency and experience driving alignment and outcomes at scale. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements arerequired for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Nice To Haves

  • 6+ years of experience building and operating large-scale, high-availability data-driven services or platforms in a production environment, demonstrating systems design and debugging skills.
  • 4+ years of people management experience, leading and growing engineering teams.
  • 2+ years of experience with full-stack development and cloud services, designing and reviewing end-to-end systems (from user experiences to back-end services) on modern cloud infrastructure.
  • 2+ years of experience in data and analytics technologies including big-data and analytics platforms such as Azure Data Explorer (Kusto), Azure Data Factory, and distributed processing frameworks like Cosmos, Apache Spark, or Flink.
  • 2+ years of experience collaborating and influencing across organizations, aligning stakeholders and leaders around a common technical vision and driving successful outcomes.
  • 10+ years of technical software engineering experience (or equivalent), including hands-on coding and architecture in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.

Responsibilities

  • Lead IDEAS Experimentation: Set the vision and technical roadmap for how teams’ experiments are measured and operationalized across Microsoft 365, ensuring product teams can leverage metrics to improve product quality and user satisfaction.
  • Own the Attribution Service: Drive the development of a scalable, configurable attribution platform that connects user events to business outcomes through flexible models, enabling teams to understand which features and experiences drive customer behavior, engagement, and business impact.
  • Deliver Growth Analytics: Deliver reliable, actionable insights and measurement frameworks that help teams identify key growth levers, evaluate feature impact, and promote data-informed product decisions across the business using agents, hypothesis generators, and insights for growth motions
  • Drive infrastructure and Engineering Success: Ensure that metrics frameworks, data pipelines, and instrumentation standards across these services are scalable, reliable, secure, and extensible to support petabyte-scale data and usage.
  • Solve large-scale data challenges with modern technologies: Build and operate high-performance systems at enterprise scale, leveraging technologies such as C#, React, Cosmos, Azure Data Explorer (Kusto), Azure Data Factory, and related big data and analytics platforms.
  • Collaborate across teams and organizations: Partner closely with engineering, product management, data science, and platform teams, as well as leadership, to align on goals, define metrics and instrumentation, prioritize requirements, and ensure adoption of customer experience and growth measurement solutions.
  • Deliver executive-ready insights and narratives: Translate telemetry and analysis into requiremens and visualizations for executives and partners, driving data-driven decision making that improves customer experience and accelerates business growth.
  • Develop and grow the team: Manage software engineers and engineering managers, fostering a culture of inclusion, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement while staying involved in technical design and architecture decisions.
