About The Position

The City of Fishers Community Center seeks an energetic Group Run Coordinator who is passionate about running to join their team! In this role, youll help implement and grow Geist Half Marathon Race series preparation program by developing run routes, organizing practice schedules, and grouping participants by skill level to ensure everyone has a great experience. Youll build strong relationships with runners, foster a fun and inclusive atmosphere rooted in fair play, and deliver top-notch customer service every step of the way. Opened in October 2025, the 105,000sq. ft. Fishers Community Center offers free amenities to the community including a walking track, large indoor playground, and access to Sahms Community Caf. It also has a paid membership model that allows access to 2 indoor pools (including a 2-story waterslide), 3 athletic gyms, a large fitness floor, 2 group exercise studios, 1 cycle studio, childcare, and much more. Requirements

  • Equivalent to the completion of a high school diploma and one (1) or more years of experience managing adult sports programing and/or being in a teaching or coaching capacity.
  • Knowledge of effective instructional methods for individuals and groups, along with the physical ability to lead and actively participate in running activities for up to two hours and assist with setting up and breaking down water stops and supply stations.
  • Able to collaboratively solve problems in a way that builds and maintains positive, productive, working relationships with members, employees, and the public.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Indiana drivers license with a record that allows the ability to be insured to drive a City vehicle.
  • Must have an Adult CPR/AED, First Aid certifications or ability to obtain within the first 60 days. Training will be provided.
  • Must be able to work a variety of shifts including evenings and weekends and in an environment with frequent interruptions and background noises.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the implementation, development, and monitoring of seasonal Geist Half Marathon Race Series.
  • Build relationships with program participants and create an atmosphere based on fair play that is incorporated in a manner that is both demonstrative and professional.
  • Develop running routes, practice schedules, and group participants by skill level.
  • Maintain accurate records and attend offsite events.
  • Ensure the proper set-up/break down of water stops and supply stations.
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment by enforcing all safety guidelines.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all patrons by addressing inquiries, resolving concerns, and fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment.
  • Attend scheduled meetings and training sessions.
  • Ensure safety of patrons and be prepared to take charge in an emergency if necessary.
  • Act as a first responder in the event of an emergency, providing immediate assistance, administering first aid or CPR as needed, and following proper emergency protocols to ensure member and staff safety.
  • Report any accidents/emergencies immediately and complete accident reports as necessary.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all patrons by addressing inquiries, resolving concerns, promoting programs, and fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
