Responsibilities include supervising staff, designing curricula for individuals with Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities (I/DD), developing activities and individualized Day Habilitation Staff Action Plans, and coordinating group schedules. The Group Supervisor will also handle communication with assigned individuals and complete the required training from On Your Mark, Inc. and OPWDD.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of one year of experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
  • Valid driver’s license preferred
  • Experience working with adults with I/DD, preferably in an educational or recreational context.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods for individuals with diverse physical, cognitive, or emotional needs.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to explain concepts clearly and adjust as needed.
  • Flexibility in modifying activities to accommodate the group’s diverse needs.
  • Strong teamwork skills, collaborating with staff and caregivers.
  • Ability to recognize changes in participant conditions and take appropriate actions.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently while remaining responsive to participants’ needs.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all On Your Mark, Inc., OPWDD and New York State Justice Center policies and regulations.
  • Safeguard the safety and well-being of all individuals in the program.
  • Intervene appropriately and report any incidents or suspected incidents of abuse and/or neglect IMMEDIATELY to a supervisor.
  • Foster an environment that encourages positive attitudes and behaviors among participants.
  • Enhance the overall quality of life for individuals attending the day habilitation program.
  • Supervise daily activities and ensure effective instruction across all program areas.
  • Conduct assessments of newly admitted individuals and reassess their ongoing needs.
  • Collect, review, and analyze daily and monthly data to track progress in program activities.
  • Oversee supervision of individuals during meals and assist when necessary.
  • Provide support for individuals’ personal hygiene tasks when needed.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents/guardians, residence managers, care coordinators, and other service providers under the guidance of the Coordinators, Assistant Director and/or Program Director.
  • Lead weekly planning meetings with individuals/Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to identify and plan activities.
  • Report and document progress or challenges regarding individual participants.
  • Provide feedback on program activities and offer suggestions for improvements.
  • Assist with the arrival and departure routines of program participants as needed.
  • Attend all in-service trainings, workshops, and certification programs, including AMAP, CPR, First Aid, and SCIP-R techniques.
  • Participate in relevant meetings about Day Habilitation operations and issues.
  • Administer or delegate the administration of medication, based on individual needs, once AMAP certification is achieved.
  • Ensure proper care and maintenance of all program supplies and report any damages.
  • Maintain organized program areas and ensure cleanliness.
  • Notify the Coordinator, Assistant Director and Program Director in advance of any absences or tardiness to arrange coverage and ensure uninterrupted program operations.
  • Respond quickly and appropriately in emergency situations.
  • Interact professionally and courteously with individuals, parents, co-workers, other professionals, and management.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as assigned by the Coordinators, Assistant Director, or Program Director to ensure the safety and quality of the program.
  • Perform other duties related to programming and participant safety as necessary.
