About The Position

Provide technical project leadership in the enhancement, development, and management of the Guidewire Insurance Suite (PolicyCenter, ClaimCenter, BillingCenter, ContactManager, and digital portals). Develop and document new features and detailed software specifications used to integrate custom applications with core insurance systems. Provide technical training and guidance to other development staff.

Requirements

  • Must possess an understanding of all aspects of the software development life cycle (e.g. requirements, analysis, design, implementation, testing and documentation) and Agile and Iterative Development execution models.
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong creative problem-solving skills and the ability to successfully work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must be detail-oriented.
  • Proven project leader for small to medium size projects and proven ability to learn new languages and development methodologies.
  • Effectively interface with external contacts, Brotherhood employees, managers, and department staff members.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or equivalent degree required.
  • Five or more years developing software or web applications, including experience with an object-oriented language, required.
  • Five or more years working with Gosu, SQL, Java, SOAP or Restful web services, JavaScript, XML, Git or a similar version control / source code management tool is desired.
  • One or more years of insurance or financial industry background is desired.

Nice To Haves

  • Working toward CPCU designation is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all aspects of Guidewire development projects assigned to include related system configurations and external and internal integrations by providing technical analysis, design, documentation, development, and testing.
  • Provide leadership within the Guidewire development team and on cross-departmental project teams.
  • Provide leadership in the creation and adherence of “best practices” and coding standards for the team.
  • Work with software vendors and system Integrator partners to provide technical expertise while participating in Guidewire installations and upgrades.
  • Provide leadership in the development of automated test cases.
  • Work independently to solve complex problems without the need for direction or oversight.
  • Foster, initiate and participate in pair-programming and coaching sessions with team members to accomplish project requirements.
  • Participate in daily scrums, communicating effectively with project managers, team members, and customers.
  • Complete other projects as assigned.
