About The Position

The engineering co-op student will work alongside, and in support of, R&D hardware and systems engineering teams. The engineering teams are a diverse, collaborative group working on the support and/or development of medical devices; the devices are used to automate in-vitro diagnostics typically found in a microbiology lab. The engineering co-op student will be supervised and mentored by the Directors, Managers, and Sr. Engineers in the engineering team of Systems Development.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Specific Field, Function, or Specialization: At least 1 year of degree program completed (Related life sciences, computer science, data science, or microbiology program)
  • Must be currently enrolled in a BS or MS Program in a related life sciences, computer science, data science, or microbiology program
  • Consistently upholds and reflects the core ethical principles and values that bioMérieux promotes.
  • Effective verbal communication skills
  • Written Communications – including the ability to communicate technical data in written form
  • Ability to work cross-functionally allowing for better collaboration and communication when working across teams to achieve shared objectives

Responsibilities

  • Project Activities: This position will include creation and execution of verification tests, troubleshooting and evaluating instrument and system issues and design alternatives, and supporting engineering evaluations and feasibility efforts.
  • Design and Development Process: The co-op will be given the opportunity to acquire knowledge and understanding of the bioMérieux Design Control Process that addresses US and international regulatory requirements, as well as internal Quality requirements.
  • Perform all work in compliance with company quality procedures and standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
