Job Title Hardware Engineer What does a great Hardware Engineer do at Fiserv? As a Hardware Engineer, you will support our Hazelwood, MO production facility by driving reliability and performance across print, inserter, and production mail systems. You will partner closely with Technical Engineers (TEs), maintenance, and operations teams to troubleshoot complex hardware, optimize workflows, and reduce downtime. Your work will help ensure we meet client commitments through safe, efficient, and highly available production operations. What you'll do: Research market and technology trends to identify improvements in production workflows, downtime reduction, and maintenance repair efficiency. Analyze production performance data and failure modes to prioritize hardware improvements and preventive maintenance strategies. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex hardware issues on production equipment to support Technical Engineers (TEs) and minimize unplanned downtime. Design, implement, and maintain network-connected production hardware, ensuring reliable connectivity, throughput, and security. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess requirements, plan upgrades, and execute projects for print, inserter, and mail systems. Develop, document, and update standard work instructions, troubleshooting guides, and equipment configuration records for knowledge sharing. Apply Lean and Continuous Improvement principles to drive data-based process enhancements and maintenance best practices. Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in a hardware, production maintenance, or Technical Engineer role supporting complex electro-mechanical or networked production equipment.
  • 7+ years of experience with print, inserter, or production mail systems in a high-volume production environment.
  • 7+ years of project or program management experience leading equipment, workflow, or reliability improvement initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of network protocols and technologies such as TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, DNS, DHCP, and Wi-Fi, with hands-on experience configuring and supporting networked hardware.
  • Experience with production data analysis, metrics development, and reporting using tools such as Excel or similar analytics solutions.
  • Demonstrated application of Lean principles in a Continuous Improvement environment, including use of structured problem-solving methods.
  • Proficiency with MS Office tools, including Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, to create analyses, presentations, and status reporting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, industrial maintenance, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education, related experience and/or military experience.

Nice To Haves

  • 7+ years of experience troubleshooting complex production hardware in a print or mail operations environment.
  • Experience with IP5000, HP roll-to-roll printers, and Ricoh cut sheet printers.
  • Experience with BlueCrest, APS, MPS, EPIC inserting equipment, and APEX or Criterion sorters.
  • 7+ years of management or supervisory experience leading maintenance or production teams.
