The Radiation Engineer assesses and mitigates the impact of radiation on the performance of a system. This assessment could be in the form of analysis of environments, transport of those environments through system enclosures, modeling the interaction or radiation with components and sensors, or testing of components and sensors. Typical systems and components include inertial navigation systems, inertial sensors (accelerometers and gyroscopes), MEMS devices, ASICs, fiber optics, and other electronic components. The ideal candidate would have deep experience with all aspects of radiation testing including planning, hardware and software development, coordinating test logistics, executing tests, and reporting on results. The role will require working with one or more teams in helping programs evaluate, refine, and validate components and hardware designs intended to operate in extremely challenging environments. Travel to support testing and other efforts will be required for this position. Less than 25% in a given year is expected. Applicants selected for this position will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance. The Odon, Indiana facility is located in the Westgate@Crane Technology Park adjacent to Crane NSWC. This technology hub focuses on the development and production of critical microelectronics components. The office is a short commute from Bloomington, IN, a vibrant community with excellent schools, parks, restaurants, and outdoor activities.
