As a Hardware Qualification Engineer in Google's design and validation team, you will qualify new components, servers, storage devices and specialized machine learning hardware for Google's data centers, ensuring they meet Google's stringent requirements for performance, security, reliability, and features. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $126,000-$181,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience working in a board level design and testing technical environment, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • Experience collecting and organizing data to reproduce results and explain what happened, enabling quick, accurate failure analysis from suppliers where needed.
  • Understanding compute, storage or networking hardware including physical, functional, logical, mechanical, electrical, software, thermal etc. as well as how to test the interfaces.
  • Ability to use scripting and automation to execute test algorithms, and then analyze results.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Responsibilities

  • Create test plans and coordinate resources across various test environments.
  • Perform electrical, functional, and performance testing for server, storage, and networking platforms or components.
  • Validate high-speed interfaces (PCIe Gen 5/6, Ethernet, DDR5) through electrical/protocol compliance and interoperability testing.
  • Collaborate with Original Design Manufacturer/Joint Design Manufacturer (ODMs/JDMs) to ensure validation meets standards while communicating status updates to cross-functional leadership.
  • Utilize lab equipment (oscilloscopes, BERTs, protocol analyzers) and organize data to improve the qualification process.
