About The Position

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & JOB FUNCTIONS, including but not limited to: · Prepares and directs daily menus, ensuring meals are nutritionally balanced. · Prepares and directs written menus and meal plans for assigned Kitchen staff. Reads, understands, and follows recipes. · Assists in maintaining the accountability of students and kitchen staff. · Works with the Camp Health Care Provider to respond to special medically necessary dietary needs of participants and staff. · Functions as a general all-around cook for all meals and special events. · Prepares, cooks, and serves a variety of food entrees for large numbers of people. · Ensures the proper amount of food is prepared and served on schedule to avoid food waste. · Leads kitchen team to ensure the cleanliness of the kitchen and the kitchen equipment. · Prepares basic oral and written reports including status of food inventories or suggested changes in kitchen operations to improve efficiency. · Ensures the kitchen is safe, hygienic, and has a high standard of presentation. · Sets schedule for kitchen staff and volunteers. · Supervises the kitchen crew during the set-up and cleanup of meals. · Inspects the kitchen for cleanliness and proper storage of foods and utensils. · Operates kitchen equipment and machines safely, and adheres to safety practices and OSHA standards Cares for kitchen equipment and machines appropriately to ensure proper function. Manages kitchen setup and closeout. Maintains kitchen inventory and submits purchase requests to coordinating team. · Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. · Provides verbal performance feedback for Nuuciq Spirit Camp Kitchen staff throughout each session. · Follow Camp Policies and Procedures. · Submits written requests for supplies as needed of Nuuciq Spirit Camp kitchen with the final approval of Chugach Heritage Foundation Management. · Cultivates and maintains a climate that is free of harassment, intimidation, and disrespect to provide a safe place for staff and youth to work and learn. · Promotes the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed. · Performs other duties as assigned.
