About The Position

Everest Recovery Centers is run by seasoned veterans in the substance use disorder treatment field. Our mission is: To improve lives and strengthen communities, one connection at a time. We help people rebuild their self-esteem and reestablish their roles as productive family members through our outpatient services, which include medication-assisted treatment; diagnostic assessment, recurrence prevention and support groups, addiction education, counseling, and more. We are currently seeking a fulltime Head of Clinical Excellence. This is a new role that provides clinical leadership across all Everest clinics, ensuring regulatory compliance, accreditation readiness, high-quality care delivery, and consistent clinical standards while driving performance outcomes and resolving patient-rights issues. This position reports to the CEO and works collaboratively with a small home office staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in behavioral health, counseling, social work, clinical psychology, or related field.
  • 2 years clinical leadership experience in behavioral health, OTPS, or SUD treatment settings.
  • High emotional intelligence, particularly when navigating clinic wide changes or improvement initiatives.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience mentoring clinical leaders, ensuring clinical competency, consistency, and ongoing professional development.
  • Proven ability to foster improvements in Clinical Operations, with an understanding of how it impacts overall Clinic performance.
  • Expertise in developing, evaluating, and implementing clinical policies and procedures
  • Applied knowledge of State & Federal regulations and how to translate them into practical clinical workflows.
  • Demonstrated experience leading accreditation surveys and maintaining “survey-ready” status.
  • Experience designing and delivering staff training
  • Experience with clinical auditing, chart reviews, and error reduction strategies.
  • Understanding of confidentiality regulations, including 42 CFR Part 2 & HIPAA
  • Experience advising on the handling of PHI requests, subpoenas, and court orders.
  • Experience optimizing EHR workflows
  • Ability to handle multiple and varied priorities with calm and focus
  • Ability to adapt in a growing environment or under changing circumstances
  • Ability to occasionally overnight travel to locations in ME, MA and RI.
  • Must reside in ME, MA or RI or be willing to relocate there.

Nice To Haves

  • Independent licensure (LCSW, LCPC, LMHC, LICSW, etc.) strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that Everest Clinical Policies and Procedures adhere to State/Federal regulations and CARF Standards .
  • Develop and maintain clinical policies/trainings and oversee the development of other required trainings under State/Fed regs and CARF
  • Advise/educate the Home Office Leadership team on recommended clinical best practices and new service delivery suggestions for adoption.
  • Reporting responsibilities during Home office management meetings/governance meeting
  • When new services are created in EHR, advise on process structure, setup and workflow.
  • Mentor clinical leaders and ensure consistent competency across all clinics.
  • Ensure all clinical practices adhere to State/Federal regulations, CARF Clinical Standards and Everest policies/procedures.
  • Act as the clinical lead for accreditation readiness and surveys.
  • Conduct site clinical audits (including quarterly Corporate Compliance audits) to validate adherence to prescribed policies, clinic-level auditing procedures and standards of care.
  • Implement corrective action plans for trends identified in audits.
  • Track and trend documentation errors.
  • Oversee the structure, cadence, and quality of individual and group clinical supervision.
  • Ensure supervision is compliant and reflective of clinical needs.
  • Serve as the Patient Advocate
  • Oversee investigation and resolution of clinical related- patient grievances, ensuring compliance with rights based- care.
  • Track grievance trends and recommend preventive training or policy changes.
  • Protect confidentiality and ensure alignment with patient care- standards.
  • Advise on PHI Requests, subpoenas, court orders.
  • Serve as member of CC team and assist in investigations.
  • Responsible for clinical performance measures tied to Program Effectiveness:
  • Track, analyze and implement improvement plans for take homes, patient satisfaction, and patient outcomes.
  • Oversee direct service completion rates, quantitative services, and clinical vital signs.
  • Collaborate with Directors and Home Office on performance improvement initiatives affecting census, throughput, and clinical engagement.
  • Provide clinical insights for intake, retention, and patient engagement strategies.
  • Oversee additional clinical service delivery models such as Health Homes for compliance and service completion
