About The Position

At Pattern Bioscience, we’re tackling antibiotic resistance, one of the biggest public health challenges of our time. We use machine learning and microfluidics to quickly identify the bacteria causing an infection and to predict which drugs will cure the infection. Our mission is to reinvent the clinical microbiology lab using our novel, game-changing technology. To accomplish our mission, we are seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial Head of Sales - comfortable in the startup, biotech environment to own hospital adoption and revenue growth. The role is ideal for someone who takes pride in building a consistent and effective commercial engine. You will be responsible for direct enterprise selling and building a high-performance team to drive market adoption across hospital systems. This role is for you if you enjoy improving the standard of care in hospitals by selling clinical and economic value.

Requirements

  • Foster a culture of disciplined execution, transparency and continuous improvement
  • Commercially driven diagnostics leader who combines clinical credibility, health-system navigation expertise, and value-based selling capabilities with the agility and hands-on execution required to scale an IVD startup
  • Excel in achieving goals and finding creative and effective means to remove obstacles
  • Excel in operating effectively in resource-constrained environments and building processes to maximize team effectiveness
  • Are flexible, adaptable, and comfortable moving through uncertainty to recommend and make decisions
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Biomedical, Business or related field required.
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in commercial roles in diagnostics, medtech, life sciences required.
  • Proven success launching novel technologies into hospital and fluency in value-based selling.
  • Experience operating in startup or venture-backed environments with limited infrastructure and evolving strategy
  • Strong fluency in healthcare economics, reimbursement pathways, and value-based purchasing.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA or advanced technical degree (MS, PhD) preferred.
  • Experience in infectious disease diagnostics is highly preferred.
  • Experience launching products that require behavior change and clinical pathway integration is a plus.
  • Experience in and comfort with pre-revenue startups is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver early revenue traction and adoption in flagship health systems for new product launches
  • Build a process driven Sales team with performance metrics aligned to funnel progression and effective value creation to key stakeholders
  • Demonstrate clear clinical, operational and economic value to hospital stakeholders across lab leadership, pharmacy/antibiotic stewardship, clinicians, value analysis committees and C-suite
  • Navigate and develop strategies to leverage hospital budgeting, IDN and GPO contracting structures
  • Ensure entire team is adequately trained and effective at messaging patient outcome, workflow efficiency, antimicrobial stewardship benefits and cost savings/avoidance value of Pattern’s solutions
  • Recruit, develop and retain top talent aligned with the unique realities of early-stage company and launch of innovative Dx solutions
  • Develop key reference accounts and effectively leverage these to drive sales expansion
  • Drive multi-site expansion of Pattern’s solutions across IDNs and GPOs
  • Implement CRM discipline, funnel stage action plans and data input accuracy
  • Own key commercial performance metrics to deliver operational excellence in forecasting, sales cycle improvement and Sales Rep productivity
  • Assist with designing territories, compensation structures, and hiring plans aligned to growth milestones and cash efficiency
  • Represent the company with credibility at industry conferences and VIP engagements.
  • Provide structured market feedback to inform pricing, packaging, and product roadmap decisions.
