About The Position

The Reserve at Lake Keowee is in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains not far from Clemson and Greenville, SC. The Reserve is a private gated, lake front community and club with an extensive array of amenities and available activities. The Reserve features: elaborate pool complex, Marina, multiple dining outlets, fitness center, playground, park, basketball, 4 tennis courts, 8 pickleball courts, and a Jack Nicholas Signature Golf Course. This exciting opportunity calls for an individual that is a visibly engaged in providing enthusiasm to continue growing the racquets program. Job Description: Under the supervision of the Director of Racquets, the Head Pickleball Professional will assist in the management of Pickleball facility and activities related pickleball. The Pickleball Professional is a courteous professional interested in promoting the game of pickleball & tennis, growing the games, and ensuring the satisfaction of our members and guests. As an integral part of the team, they positively impact the organization and lives of our members.

Requirements

  • Must have a high-school degree, preferably a college degree
  • Have a PPR or ITPTA certification or willing to become certified within 6 months.
  • Have a CPR certification or willing to become certified within 6 months.
  • Have a minimum of two (2) years teaching/coaching experience
  • Demonstrate sound on court teaching aptitude and adapting to student learning type
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing to staff and members.
  • Playing Level of 4.0 or above.

Nice To Haves

  • USPTA or PTR certification desired.

Responsibilities

  • Provides group, team and individual pickleball lessons, plus tennis on occasion as assigned.
  • Run or assists with weekly and special Pickleball events, plus tennis if needed.
  • Records court reservations and lesson appointments.
  • Assists Director of Racquets and other professional’s in various responsibilities, as requested.
  • Monitors Pickleball & Tennis facility and shop in the absence of the Director of Tennis.
  • Helps keep tennis/pickleball facility clean and in proper order.
  • Assists in daily clay court, grounds, and clubhouse maintenance when needed.
  • Assists with ice/water machine supply replenishment when needed.
  • Racquet stringing in a timely manner and receives a fee per racquet.
  • Attends staff meetings as directed by Director of Racquets.
  • Completes other appropriate tasks assigned by the Director of Racquets.
  • Represents club and department with the highest standards.
  • Is certified by PPR or IPTPA, plus USPTA or PTR. Keeps up with yearly fees and educational requirements to maintain these certifications.
  • Answer the telephone and communicate effectively with all callers – checking email and voice mail daily.
  • Research, compile, and organize information, and to prepare and maintain accurate records, files, and reports
  • Work independently on assigned tasks/projects.
  • Organize and work on multiple tasks and complete assignments within specified deadlines.
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing to all team members, customers, officials, agencies, and companies.
  • Communicate ideas and instructions clearly and concisely, and to interpret and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to read complex written materials and documents.
  • Work well under pressure.
  • Set and achieve high standards as an individual and as a team member.
  • Persevere and succeed in the face of significant challenges and ambiguity.
  • Follow directions from management, verbally or in writing.
  • Coordinate with other staff, departments, officials, agencies, organizations, and the public.

  • Must be willing to work unconventional hours, attend community meetings and events during evenings and weekends.
