About The Position

THE SELECTED CANDIDATE WILL BE OFFERED AN HOURLY RATE OF $19.50. The Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and well-being of children and families through child welfare and juvenile justice services and community supports. ACS manages community-based supports and foster care services and provides subsidized childcare vouchers. ACS child protection staff respond to allegations of child maltreatment. In juvenile justice, ACS oversees detention, placement, and programs for youth in the community. ACS' Office of Child & Family Health delivers direct medical services to children entering foster care and ensures the health care provided is comprehensive and appropriate. OCFH also offers individualized case consultations and training to ACS staff and foster care agencies on a variety of health-related topics and provides clinical expertise in developing medical and mental health policies, programs, and initiatives that support best case practice agency-wide. Within OCFH, the Data & Systems Unit is responsible for managing OCFH data needs, developing and maintaining databases, running reports, identifying and troubleshooting system issues, and training staff as needed to utilize these systems. OCFH is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Health Data Analysis Undergraduate Intern. As a Health Data Analysis Undergraduate Intern, you will support our team in day-to-day operations and contribute to long-term projects by building databases and apps based on Microsoft Power Platform. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to developing databases to support delivery of direct medical services to children in foster care and ensuring the health care provided is comprehensive and appropriate. Additionally, as a member of the 2026 ACS Summer Internship Program cohort, you will participate in an enrichment program designed to fully engage students into the ACS and NYC government experience. Internship programming includes professional development workshops, lunch and learns, speaker events, NYC government tours, and networking opportunities.

Requirements

  • The selected candidate must currently be pursuing an undergraduate degree in data analytics, computer information systems or a related field.
  • As of June of the Program year the prospective intern must be a student matriculated in a college or be a recent college graduate (winter/spring term of the Program year).
  • To apply for the internship, you must be an undergraduate and must either be currently enrolled in a college or university or must have graduated within one year of the current program year.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Data Analyst to build databases and apps based on Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Dataverse, Power Automate)
  • Conduct research on key performance indicators (KPI), and assist with defining KPI criteria for business units and developing Power BI dashboards
  • Assist with creating templates for recurring reports, and “Quick Guides” for users on established processes
  • Support team in identifying user-friendly business solutions for business units, including process improvements, forms, dashboards and workflow automations
  • Attend meetings with business units to discuss and track progress on their data and systems needs and memorialize meeting notes, timelines and expected deliverables
  • Assist with documenting deliverables (e.g. business requirement documents) and creating decks for technical architecture of proposed solutions
  • Help with troubleshooting and debugging system development issues, and other tasks as may be assigned
