Division of Health Promotion and Prevention seeks to provide unpaid internship experience opportunities for students interested in a career working on population health at a local level within Utah County. Qualified candidates will gain experience in one or more of the following skill areas; conducting needs assessments, program planning, implementation, and evaluation. They will also learn how to advocate for health initiatives, communicate effectively, provide leadership and management, and maintain high ethical and professional standards in the field of health education and prevention while working with stakeholders on policy, systems and environment (PSE). Candidates may be exposed to many elements of Health Promotion and Prevention programs including: · Chronic Disease Prevention · Communication · Community Health Disparities · Injury Prevention · Quality Improvement · Social Determinants of Health · Substance Misuse and Prevention · Suicide Prevention · Tobacco Prevention and Control · Worksite Wellness Interns will be given training and mentorship from experienced public health professionals.
