Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety programs and policies to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal safety regulations and standards.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of facilities and operations to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Provide safety training and education for new hires and existing employees, ensuring they understand and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Manage work-related incidents and injuries to minimize escalation of recordable status.
  • Lead investigations into safety incidents and near-misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, inspections, and training activities.
  • Prepare and submit safety reports.
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures.
  • Provide Safety Leadership by creating enthusiasm and participation among Verdantas employees, resulting in excellent safety performance
  • Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify potential safety issues and recommend solutions.
  • Radiation Safety Officer – responsible for maintaining the company’s licenses with U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission and Ohio Department of Health for the use of nuclear densitometer gauges. This includes annual safety training and ongoing coordination of transport, storage, maintenance, and leak tests of gauges, dosimetry for users, and compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Work collaboratively with Health & Safety Manager throughout the company to advance Area and companywide H&S performance and culture
  • Support project managers in preparation and review of certain project health and safety plans, depending on project hazards and complexity.
  • Obtain Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) certification and serve as the primary point of contact for MSHA compliance and reporting
