About The Position

Bodwé is seeking a Healthcare Planner to support clinical strategy, facility master planning, capital planning, and healthcare advisory services across federal, tribal, public-sector, and private healthcare clients. This is a consulting-oriented, client-facing role focused on hands-on planning, problem solving, analytics, and multidisciplinary coordination. The Healthcare Planner serves as a bridge between healthcare clients, planning partners, and Bodwé’s architecture and engineering teams — translating clinical, operational, financial, and strategic objectives into actionable planning direction that informs capital investment and design. This role is ideal for a planner who thrives in complex environments, enjoys blending data science with storytelling, and wants to contribute directly to impactful healthcare infrastructure decisions.

Requirements

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in one of the following: Architecture, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Urban or Regional Planning, Engineering, Public Policy, Interior Design, or a related field.
  • 5-10+ years in healthcare planning, healthcare operations or consulting, facility planning or capital planning, clinical strategy or health systems advisory.
  • Experience supporting facility master plans, functional/space programming, feasibility studies, capital planning initiatives.
  • Experience working directly with clients in a consulting capacity.
  • Ability to operate independently while collaborating within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel proficiency including pivot tables and complex formulas preferred).
  • Experience with one or more of the following: AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, or other 3D modeling tools, Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, or similar BI platforms, SQL (intermediate proficiency preferred), GIS tools (data or graphic application)
  • Ability to translate data into professional graphics and planning narratives
  • Clear and professional writing skills
  • Strong graphic communication abilities
  • Comfortable facilitating discussions with diverse stakeholders

  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a Real ID or Passport in order to undergo commercial airfare travel

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred: Master’s degree (MPH, MHA, MUP, MCRP, or similar).
  • Preferred: Experience in federal, tribal, military, VA, IHS, or public-sector healthcare environments.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with healthcare facility planning processes and operational modeling.
  • Preferred: Experience working alongside architecture and engineering teams.
  • Preferred: Experience with medical equipment planning and budgeting.
  • Preferred: Experience supporting sub-consultant coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Support development of: Clinical and service line strategies, Capital investment and phasing strategies, Health system and facility master plans, Program Justification Documents (PJD), Programs of Requirements (POR), and similar planning documentation
  • Conduct service line demand forecasting and capacity modeling
  • Analyze demographic trends, regional market conditions, and healthcare delivery models
  • Assist in development of operational and financial assumptions supporting capital decisions
  • Contribute to capital planning strategies that align facilities with long-term organizational goals
  • Perform hands-on healthcare planning work including: Functional and space programming, Facility assessments and evaluations, Utilization analysis and room quantity validation, Adjacency development and workflow modeling, Phasing and operational continuity considerations
  • Research and document existing facility conditions through plan review and site visits
  • Translate planning outputs into clear space programs, design criteria, and planning narratives
  • Support early design phases to ensure planning intent is maintained
  • Collect, organize, validate, and analyze data related to: Population and demand forecasts, Staffing and operational assumptions, Utilization and service delivery models, Financial and operational metrics
  • Support modeling of healthcare delivery alternatives
  • Develop analytical summaries that inform strategic recommendations
  • Create visually compelling graphics and narratives that communicate findings clearly
  • Serve as a day-to-day planning consultant for healthcare clients
  • Participate in workshops, leadership meetings, and stakeholder sessions
  • Help clients define problems, evaluate alternatives, and develop practical solutions
  • Present actionable recommendations to healthcare leadership
  • Support consensus-building in complex, multi-stakeholder environments
  • Communicate technical and analytical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Act as an integral contributor to multidisciplinary planning efforts
  • Coordinate planning activities across: Architecture, engineering, and project management teams, External specialty consultants, Sub-consultants and technical advisors
  • Serve as a connector between strategy, planning, and design disciplines
  • Mentor designers and emerging planners supporting planning activities
  • Contribute to internal planning tools, templates, and best practices
