About The Position

The Hearing Aid Specialist is responsible for evaluating clients' hearing needs, fitting and dispensing hearing aids, providing follow-up care, and offering education on the use and maintenance of hearing devices. The specialist works closely with audiologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best outcomes for clients with hearing loss.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent; specialized training or degree in Hearing Instrument Sciences or a related field.
Certification as a Hearing Instrument Specialist (e.g., National Board for Certification in Hearing Instrument Sciences) is often required.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work with diverse populations and address their specific needs.
Technical skills for handling and repairing hearing devices.
Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

Client Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct thorough hearing evaluations to determine the type and degree of hearing loss.

Device Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine maintenance on hearing aids, including cleaning and checking for functionality.
Coordinate repairs with manufacturers or service providers as needed.
Record Keeping and Documentation: Maintain accurate and confidential client records, including hearing assessments, device fittings, and follow-up care.
Document all interactions, adjustments, and recommendations in compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Professional Development: Stay current with advancements in hearing aid technology and hearing healthcare practices.
Participate in continuing education and training to maintain certification and enhance skills.
Compliance and Ethical Practices: Adhere to all legal, ethical, and professional standards in the provision of hearing care.
