About The Position

We are currently seeking a Heat Treat Operator 2nd Shift (M-Th, 4:00pm – 2:30am) to support manufacturing by ensuring production of products through heat treat processe(s) consistent with established standards by performing the following duties personally or through co-workers. In all actions, supports Sonaca North America’s Quality Policy, Mission Statement and other Company policies and procedures by supporting our commitment to total customer satisfaction, quality products and services, lean processes, continuous improvement, on-time delivery, safety, teaming, individual accountability, and respect for people.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or high school equivalency preferred. Candidates that do not have a high school diploma or high school equivalency will be required to take a pre-employment assessment to be considered for the role.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge within the aerospace industry helpful.
  • Experience in heat treating operations preferred
  • Knowledge of sheet metal heat treating processes
  • Understanding of basic measurements.
  • Demonstrated decision-making ability utilizing good judgment in determining the appropriate guideline, procedure, and application to utilize in solving problems.
  • Understanding of process flows, lead times and lean principles in a “manufacturing environment.”
  • Excellent record keeping skills, able to read, interpret and communicate in English.
  • Computer literate, good writing skills.

  • Complete and pass heat treat certification test.
  • 12 months hands on training at Level II
  • Forklift certified preferred
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Noise levels ranging from quiet to extremely loud
  • Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when working on the manufacturing floor including, but not limited to, eye, ear, and foot protection
  • May occasionally lift and /or move up to 10-50 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Perform heat treating according to customer and Sonaca North America specifications.
  • Operate ovens, quench tanks and all other equipment and machinery in the work center according to work orders, set up cards and supervisor instructions.
  • Relay all necessary information regarding ongoing heat treat operations to other operators when changing shifts or leaving the area.
  • Report any problems or potential problems to supervisor.
  • Ability to train less qualified employees in the heat treat process.
  • Must be flexible and willing to work in other areas as needed.
  • Willing to learn, use common sense and be ambitious.
  • Maintain clean safe work environment. 6S and Lean
  • Flexible start and end times to meet customer demands (internal and external).
  • Keep equipment and work center clean.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment and tools
  • Follow all safety rules and specifications.
  • Operate a lift truck to move parts
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
