About The Position

The Heat Treat Operator is responsible for performing heat treatment processes on metal products to achieve required physical properties. This role involves operating industrial furnaces and related equipment, monitoring processing parameters, and ensuring all work meets technical specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.

Requirements

Prior experience operating heat treatment equipment or industrial furnaces preferred
Working knowledge of heat treat processes, metallurgy, and material properties
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
Ability to identify and troubleshoot process deviations
Forklift experience required (certification preferred or ability to obtain)
Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, and climbing
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
Regular exposure to high-heat environments and industrial conditions
Work may involve dust, noise, and temperature fluctuations

Responsibilities

Load and unload furnaces with metal fittings and components for heat treatment
Operate furnaces and associated equipment, including forklifts and overhead cranes
Monitor and adjust temperature, timing, and atmospheric controls to meet specifications
Perform heat treat processes such as hardening, tempering, and normalizing
Read job travelers and follow detailed heat treat instructions per order
Record processing data, equipment settings, and production parameters
Ensure compliance with quality standards and documentation requirements
Report non-conforming materials or process deviations to Plant Supervisor
Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance on furnaces and equipment
Follow all company safety procedures and PPE requirements
Safely handle high-temperature materials and equipment
Maintain a clean and organized work environment
