About The Position

This position is responsible for operating heavy equipment in a safe and secure manner in order to minimize the risk of injury and property damage. Equipment utilized in this position includes, but is not limited to, trucks, front-end loaders, back hoes, blades, graders, compactors, and other equipment.

Requirements

Able to follow established safety rules applicable to heavy equipment operators, to maintain a safe environment, and to adapt and respond to potentially hazardous conditions and use the appropriate PPE.
Able to follow directions, instructions, structured processes, and procedures.
Able to work in all weather conditions (extreme heat/cold, wind, rain).
Knowledge of vehicle and heavy equipment maintenance practices, repairs, and techniques.
Knowledge of equipment to ensure proper working conditions by checking gauges, dials, and other indicators.
Able to work a flexible schedule with last-minute schedule changes, location, time of shift change(day & night), and overtime work as needed.
Able to communicate effectively in English/Spanish (preferred).
High School or equivalent (preferred).
Minimum two (2) years’ experience in the construction industry.
One (1) year of work experience in roads and ground maintenance, or demonstrated ability to use equipment, and knowledge of road maintenance standards properly.
CDL or other special classification of operators’ license may be required.
Valid Driver’s License with clear MVR may be required.
Frequent walking on uneven surfaces, including ground in varying weather conditions.
Frequently ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and similar structures.
Constantly reaching, pushing, and pulling gears to operate levers, and steering wheel.
Regularly sit, stand, or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of a shift/workday.
May stoop, kneel, or bend on an occasional basis.
May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
Regularly works near heavy equipment and moving machinery.
Exposure to outdoor environment with machinery/equipment in the surrounding area.
Able to push/pull 80+ lbs.
Able to lift/carry 80+ lbs.
Excellent vision or the use of prescribed lenses.
Able to work in all weather conditions (extreme heat/cold, wind, rain).
Able to safely operate a personal and/or company motor vehicle.
Able to wear personal protective equipment is required, including but not limited to steel toe shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, vest, etc.

Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record. Responsibilities

Ability to operate various pieces of heavy equipment, including loaders, excavators, dozers, graders, backhoes, etc.
Operate all heavy equipment safely and efficiently according to all applicable policies and procedures.
Responsible for excavating trenches, digging holes, leveling dirt, and leveling asphalt.
Reads and interprets grade and slope stakes and plans.
Ensure heavy equipment is safely and securely stored.
Perform daily safety and maintenance checks.
May perform general laborer duties as needed.
Transport vehicle equipped with tools and materials to job sites.
Adheres to procedures, regulations, and guidelines while minimizing errors and safety risks.
Follow instructions and comprehend construction needs.
Regular attendance is required according to company policy to ensure the crew can operate at the normal efficiency level.
Performs other duties of a similar or related nature as assigned.
