About The Position

Seasonal help is responsible for aiding full-time Highway Maintainers with maintenance of county highways. Examples of Duties and Responsibilities Trim grass along county highways Aid in installation and maintenance of culvert pipes Aid in oiling and chipping of county highways Work on ditches and drainage projects Drive light duty pickup trucks Flag traffic Perform other day to day tasks as assigned by Supervisors QualificationsMinimum Qualifications A high school diploma or equivalent, two (2) years driving experience, and a valid driver’s license are required. Physical Requirements The employee must be able to and may be required to: Stand for extended periods of time. Walk or move on even or uneven, loose and/or sloped terrain possibly for extended periods of time. Safely climb steps, ladders or slopes while carrying up to 40 pounds. Frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 90 pounds. See and hear and respond quickly to hazards. Speak to alert others of hazards and communicate instructions. Work in extreme weather. Wear PPE correctly most of the day. Safely enter and exit heavy construction equipment. Drive a passenger vehicle.
