About The Position

This role is responsible for compiling and maintaining medical records of patients within the health information system by performing work within one or more of the functional areas within HIM, including transcription support. The position available is:

Full-time, 80 hours per pay period, benefited. Day Shift M-F

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Training in medical terminology or related field, and/or six months experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Reviews patient records for completeness, accuracy, and timeliness, making corrections as needed.
• Ensures accuracy with the use of proper grammar, spelling, and sentence structure.
• Assists in the retrieval and distribution of health records.
• Prepares and completes scanning process for upload of all relative documents into the EMR on a timely basis.
• Professionally answers the telephone and responds to requests, including requests for disclosure of protected health information.
• Assists the Department Manager in monitoring that dictation is current.
• Works in the dictation systems regularly to ensure reports and correspondences are moved through the pending queue and documentation is distributed from the dictation system appropriately.
• Updates medical and surgical documentation for physicians prior to their visit with the patient based on visit type.
