About The Position

Inotiv is seeking an experienced Histology Technician to support our Boulder histology laboratory. The Histology Technician performs routine and specialized histology procedures to produce high-quality tissue sections in accordance with study protocols, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. This role supports pathology and research activities through precise tissue processing, staining, documentation, and quality control while adhering to established SOPs, safety guidelines, and timelines. The Histology Technician collaborates closely with Histology Management and cross-functional teams, provides technical expertise to laboratory operations, and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives in a fast-paced laboratory environment. This position reports directly to the Director of Histology

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant histology industry experience
  • HT or HTL (ASCP) certification required
  • High School Diploma or GED with laboratory experience
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and critical-thinking skills
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
  • Ability to provide technical input and perform equipment calibration and routine maintenance
  • Strong teamwork and relationship-building skills with pathologists and cross-functional staff
  • Commitment to quality, deadlines, and continuous learning
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook and ability to learn laboratory software

Responsibilities

  • Perform tissue trimming, processing, embedding, microtomy, and production of high-quality tissue sections at a proficient to mastery level.
  • Conduct routine H&E and special stains, coverslipping, and operation of associated equipment
  • Accurately mount tissue on glass slides and evaluate blocks/slides to ensure anatomical accuracy and quality standards
  • Perform timely QC of routine and special stains and reconcile study materials
  • Maintain complete and compliant study documentation and records
  • Demonstrate introductory knowledge of alternative histology techniques (e.g., cryosectioning, medical device embedding/sectioning)
  • Follow all SOPs, safety requirements, and company policies while maintaining confidentiality

  • Interact professionally with clients and colleagues and perform other duties as assigned
