About The Position

Diagnoses, repairs, reconditions, and adjusts key systems and components of trucks and related equipment. Mid-level position – Generally has more than three years of experience and/or demonstrated job relevant knowledge/skills. A level two technician has moderate knowledge of the field’s standard and technical concepts, practices, and procedures. Level two technician performs a variety of standard, complex, and technical tasks; is indirectly supervised and self-starting; often a team member on a large project. The incumbent in this position is expected to model the following practices on a daily basis: 1) Demonstrate alignment with the company's mission and core business values; 2) Collaborate with key internal/external resources; 3) Participate in ongoing self-development. Essential Functions: · Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission · Troubleshoots and diagnoses moderately complex engine malfunctions and failures with direction and minimum supervision · Performs thorough engine and related equipment repairs on trucks and trailers with direction and minimum supervision · Disassembles, inspects, determines parts required, and reassembles to factory specifications within TRGs · Provides quality control/assurance inspections of completed tasks to include road testing · Uses computers and related software to assist in diagnosing and reprograming engines · Completes documentation for service reports, timecards, parts requisition and returns · Interprets and utilizes information from operating, maintenance, online resources, and service manuals/bulletins · Operates equipment and vehicles with possession of all necessary licenses and certificates · Adheres to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations · Maintains all company equipment, tools, and vehicle in a good, clean, and working order · Communicates job progress to supervisor and customer as needed · Works overtime as required by workload and customers' needs · Projects professionalism with both internal and external customers, including personal appearance · Acts as a mentor and coach to lower level Technicians · Completes all assigned Technician Training Path courses and safety training · Consistently maintains an average rework of less than 1% · Ensures a positive average variance consistently · Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards · Requires regular and punctual employee attendance · Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Ability to meet all requirements as outlined in Leveling Description Guide to include; Basic Requirements, Electrical System, Engine Systems, AC/Heat System, Fuel System, Compressed Air Systems, Cooling System, Rear Differential, Intake/Exhaust Systems, Drive Train Components, Clutches, Tier IV Engine Emission Systems and Transmissions
  • Ability to meet all technical and performance requirements for a level one technician
  • Solid knowledge of equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Sound knowledge and proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and electronic systems diagnostic tooling

  • Ability to complete HOLT's VBL Classes, model HOLT's VBL Culture, and successfully apply the tools (Learn)
  • High school diploma or equivalent, accreditation from a technical school or an applicable skilled trades program required
  • At least two years of experience required, three or more preferred
  • AC Certification Required
  • Brake System Certification Required
  • Has met HDSI requirements for Service Tech 1; Ability to complete HOLT's VBL Classes, model HOLT's VBL Culture, and successfully apply the tools
  • On-going Safety Training required
  • Must own and maintain the necessary tools to efficiently perform the job
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record, ability to pass DOT requirements
  • Significant amount of time spent standing
  • Constant movement and use of hands, this position requires good manual dexterity
  • Communication with customers and constant communication with co-workers
  • Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work
  • Must be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue
  • Be able to maneuver safely and work underneath equipment
  • Lifts and moves materials and equipment up to 50 lb
  • Occasional kneeling, crouching, stooping, crawling, reaching, and balancing
  • Ascends/descends with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climbs up and down ladders and/or equipment

Nice To Haves

  • CDL – Class A or B preferred
  • ASE – Medium/Heavy Truck Certification four or more preferred
