About The Position

The "Sales-Oriented Handyman" – Fix the Problem, Spot the Opportunity Location: Field-Based (Reporting to Lakewood, CO HQ) Compensation: $24.00/hr Guaranteed Base OR Commission (Whichever is higher for the pay period) Target Total Comp: $65,000 - $85,000+ (Highly dependent on your ability to upsell and generate leads) The Opportunity Are you a skilled handyman or electrical apprentice who loves making sales, but hates the headaches of running your own business? Do you want a role where your technical skills get you in the door, but your communication and sales skills determine your paycheck? We are Colorado's leading expert in comprehensive home efficiency. As a local, family-owned company, we are looking for a Home Service Technician to run our minor electrical and service calls. Your day-to-day will focus heavily on minor electrical work—specifically servicing whole house fans, replacing light fixtures, and installing ceiling fans. However, this is fundamentally a sales role. We need someone who can fix the immediate electrical issue, quickly build rapport, and use their "handyman" intuition to spot other opportunities around the home to sell or refer. Compensation & Structure We take the risk out of sales while rewarding high performers. Safety Net: You have a guaranteed "fallback rate" of $24.00/hour. Performance Upside: You are paid the higher of your hourly base or your earned commissions. The Goal: We want you blowing past your hourly rate by closing immediate upgrades and generating high-value leads for our other divisions. Requirements

  • Minor Electrical Skills: You are highly comfortable and safe working with basic tools, replacing fixtures, installing ceiling fans, and doing light mechanical troubleshooting.
  • The Sales DNA: You view a service call as a sales opportunity, not just a repair ticket. You are comfortable asking for the sale or suggesting an upgrade.
  • Exceptional Communicator: You can explain technical issues to a homeowner in a way that makes sense and builds trust.
  • Tech Savvy: Comfortable using an iPad for dispatching, invoicing, and notes.

Responsibilities

  • Fix the Problem: Run daily service calls focused on light electrical work, such as troubleshooting whole house fans, swapping fixtures, or installing ceiling fans.
  • Spot the Opportunity: Look beyond the immediate fix. Does the attic lack insulation? Do they need plumbing work, skylights, or a full energy audit?
  • Rapport & Revenue: Build trust within minutes of arriving. Pitch small add-ons on the spot, or set up qualified appointments for our other divisions to close.
  • Time Management: Use excellent judgment to know when to stay and pitch a sale, and when to wrap up the repair and move to the next call.
