About The Position

Hood Cleaner – Commercial Kitchen Exhaust Systems Salt Lake City, UT | $23–$26/hour DOE | Full-Time, Mostly Overnight Looking for dependable, hands-on work with room to grow? State Fire is hiring Hood Cleaners in Salt Lake City. Commercial kitchen exhaust systems collect flammable grease and must be cleaned regularly to stay compliant with fire code. As a Hood Cleaner, you’ll help protect lives and property by thoroughly cleaning these systems using degreasers, pressurized water, and proper safety procedures. If you're looking for short-term work or tend to job hop, this is not the right position. We invest in those who are in it for the long-haul. Requirements

  • Strong work ethic and dependability and willingness to learn
  • Reliability and honesty
  • Problem-solving ability (you’ll encounter unique situations)
  • Comfort with overnight work
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Pass a state background check to obtain your license
  • Pass a pre-employment drug test and be subject to random testing
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to sit, stand, kneel, crouch or stoop for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Ability to climb ladders, scaffolding and stairs.
  • Ability to move about in areas with limited space and difficult access.
  • Ability to safely lift, transport and place objects up to 70 pounds, without assistance.
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors

Responsibilities

  • Clean hood systems, ductwork, and rooftop fans to meet fire code
  • Work overnight (most shifts start between 7 PM – 11 PM and last 6–10 hours)
  • Clean two restaurants per shift on average
  • Some daytime jobs may occur, but the majority are nighttime
  • Obtain a Utah hood cleaning license (we will help you with the process)
