About The Position

A leading nationwide telecom provider is hiring Horizontal Directional Drillers (HDD) to join their Outside Plant Construction Team. This full-time, year-round role supports the expansion of state-of-the-art fiber networks in local communities. HDD's will be required to operate horizontal directional drilled equipment or serve as the drill locator as well as: Install, maintain, test, and repair buried and aerial fiber lines. Operate trenchers, plows, excavators, backhoes, mini excavators, and other equipment. Set pedestals, vaults, handholes, and related outside plant infrastructure. Climb poles, ladders, towers; operate bucket trucks when needed. Support fiber splicing and repair activities. Restore job sites to original condition. Use dispatching, labeling, and marking tools accurately. Perform general construction work in various weather conditions On the job training will be provided for the following: Safety training (required) Pole climbing & bucket truck operation Fiber basics: OTDR, fusion splicing, troubleshooting Construction equipment operation CDL Class A training & certification for eligible associates

Requirements

  • 6+ months experience in one or more of the following: Customer service Electrical, utility, or construction work
  • Technical certification
  • Military service (current or prior with honorable discharge)
  • Valid driver’s license; able to meet DOT requirements
  • Reliable attendance to meet customer and business needs

Nice To Haves

  • Horizontal directional drilling experience
  • CDL Class A (or willingness to obtain)
  • Knowledge of telecom construction, fiber, or OSP
  • Ability to multitask and stay organized
  • Willingness to work overtime or occasional swing shifts
  • Ability to drive manual-transmission vehicles
