About The Position

We are seeking a Horticulture Estimator to provide accurate cost projections for our Internal and External Horticulture projects. Specializing in predicting the costs of Interior plants and containers that meet the design aesthetic of the client and ongoing maintenance for these projects. Exterior projects are few but still part of the responsibilities. You will bridge the gap between design and execution, ensuring that our plant selections and landscape installations are both beautiful and profitable. Responsible for providing accurate cost projections that balance profitability to ensure our projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Requirements

  • Mastery of estimating software
  • Advanced math skills for complex calculations and data analysis to ensure accuracy.
  • Detail-Oriented and precision is vital, as minor errors in quantity takeoffs can lead to significant financial losses.
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Horticulture, Finance, or a related technical field.
  • 3–5+ years of experience, proficiency in MS Excel and estimating software, Strong numerical aptitude, and the ability to work under tight deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or Certified Estimating Professional (CEP).

Responsibilities

  • Biological Takeoffs: Perform precise quantity takeoffs for plant and decorative containers, materials, that fulfill the project needs.
  • Maintenance Estimating: Forecast labor and equipment hours for recurring services such as pruning, mulching, pest management, and replacement costs.
  • Sourcing & Procurement: Source pricing from approved nurseries and specialized vendors for high-quality specimens and materials.
  • Proposal Development: Create detailed bid packages that account for plant mortality risks, seasonal planting windows, and equipment logistics. Proposals should be in a PPT presentation.
  • Project Analysis: Review blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to understand the full scope of work.
  • Cost Forecasting: Calculate requirements for raw materials, specialized equipment, labor hours, and production time.
  • Vendor Management: Solicit and evaluate quotes from subcontractors and suppliers to find competitive pricing.
  • Bid Preparation: Develop and present detailed formal proposals to Business Developer and General Manger for review.
  • Site Visits: Business Developers to complete the initial site visit to acquire specific requests and needs of the client. Should an additional visit be required BD will coordinate with the estimator
